Lithops is a sort of plant in the ice plant family, Aizoaceae. Individuals from the family are local to southern Africa. The name is gotten from the Ancient Greek words λίθος, signifying “stone,” and ὄψ, signifying “face,” alluding to the stone-like appearance of the plants.
